Hi all,
I hope and pray you are having a great finish to summer and start to autumn. I thought I’d touch base and share some MASA updates.
— We now have a name for MASA’s ministry support endeavor of helping EAA with the camper registration ramp entrance for which we will be taking lead responsibility. It will be called “Welcome CREW,” with CREW being an acronym for Camper Registration Entrance Workers. By God’s grace we hope and plan to raise up a team of about 30 new MASA volunteers who will be able to serve on the Welcome CREW. They will be helping direct RVs to get lined up as they arrive at the EAA campground registration entrance. Shifts will likely be structured in five hour increments. Welcome CREW members must be at least 16 years old. Tim Martin will be taking on leadership of this team. Bill Hodge from Michigan with Great Commission United (GCU), who has taken the lead with this in past years working alongside GCU members, plans to come and help Tim with training and making sure we get off to a good start next year. Please help pass the word along to anyone you know who might be interested in helping. You may contact Tim Martin or me regarding any questions you have about Welcome CREW or any suggestions you have for recruiting Welcome CREW volunteers. Terry Montambo was key in getting this all started a few years ago, has been very involved with it, and will be helping us launch this new part of our ministry.
— In light of including the Welcome CREW, the new MASA brochure card has been further updated and has gone to the printers. As I mentioned at our last leadership meeting, the MASA Board plans to send out multiple copies of the brochure along with a thank you note to to each church involved with MASA, so you can look to see the brochures “coming to a church near you” sometime this fall. :)
— I am working my way through the photos that Doug Chandler took during AirVenture this year to select ones that Bernie will upload to the MASA website. Be keeping an eye out for those in the near future.
— The MASA RV trailer has been sold to Bob Ronk, which has worked out to be a blessing for him and for MASA.
— Today we received a very generous donation from JAARS with this note from their CFO, Denise Shockley, “Please accept this token of our appreciation for the many ways MASA supported JAARS at Oshkosh this year. We are grateful for your partnership.” This donation along with a few others recently are a great help.
— Thank you for praying and please continue to pray for Ken and Bonnie’s daughter Joan, her husband Jay, and their family.
— Lord willing, Elissa and I will be taking a long road trip to visit our daughter in FL and our two sons in TX,. Along the way our hope and plan is to visit at least three mission aviation ministries… MSI in TN, JAARS in NC, and SOAR in MO.
Thank you again so much for another great time of serving the Lord together with AirVenture 2023!
Nevin
